I actually don’t care about this because I am old and sad and don’t play games anymore so I can’t imagine caring. BUT. the long lamented and strongly argued merger seems like it’s finally happening: Microsoft will be able to absorb Activision.

yay.

This seems to have been an incredibly shortsighted idea as the only thing of import that Activision has is Call of Duty- a series that has flatlined over the past few years because innovation aside- well, leaving innovation to the side has been the problem, for years.

MSFT did sign a deal that guarantees all future CoD games will be available on Playstation for the next decade, so we can all look forward to shooting each other online on every platform.

fun.

I actually expect this to be a huge failure for Microsoft, but I suppose only time will tell. If this continues the trend of breaking game homogeny though, it might be a major win for consumers.
